#MyHamilton: 5 reasons to visit the RBG’s new Rock Garden

The David Braley and Nancy Gordon Rock Garden recently reopened in Hamilton, Ontario, after a 5-year renovation and rejuvenation project. Tourism Hamilton asked me to write a #MyHamilton post about the launch. As a volunteer, I already had a sneak peek of the garden during a couple of events and was eager to share my experience.

Now that the garden is open to the public, hopefully this post will inspire both locals and tourists to visit this fabulous outdoor space.

I moved back to Hamilton in 2011 (I lived here for four years while I went to McMaster University in the 90s) and my husband and I still find ourselves telling each other how much we love it here. It happens when we spot a rare buck on the rail trail or take a hike to see the fall leaves. And I’m always telling people what a hip and happening city it is.

So I feel honoured that I’m a part of the #MyHamilton blog series for Tourism Hamilton. Here are the outdoorsy activities I wrote about in 2015:

#MyHamilton blog: The Outdoor Explorer

In late 2014, I was approached by Dana Borcea, from the City of Hamilton, to be the outdoors blogger for a new initiative called #MyHamilton. I’m one of seven local bloggers who gets to explore this fabulous city and write about it for my respective niche. We called my blog The Outdoor Explorer.

This is such a great fit for me as I am out and about hiking and biking and exploring all of these places anyhow. My first piece was about the area’s waterfalls in winter: Discover the raw beauty of Hamilton’s frozen waterfalls. I look forward to covering other outdoor adventures to be had in the Hamilton area this spring.
