Savvy Gardening

February 2014 marked the unveiling of Savvy Gardening, a website I launched with three other garden writers. The idea was born when we all met at the 2013 Garden Writers’ Association’ annual conference in Quebec City. Each writer brings something different to the table and we all have our own garden “beat,” though we all will on occasion contribute to each other’s sections.

We’ve been so overwhelmed by the support of our friends and colleagues. The first few weeks after launch we appeared as guests on three different podcasts!

* No Guff Vegetable Gardening with Steven Biggs
* An Obsessive Neurotic Gardener with John Markowski
* Grow All The Plants with Joseph Tychonievich

Here is just a sampling of some of the posts I have written for The Bloom Beat:

* Using flowers as natural pest control in the garden
* Help save the monarch butterflies by planting milkweed
* Forcing forsythia and other spring-flowering branches
* Test new plants in a private trial garden
* Snapped: The ultimate greenhouse potting shed
* An interesting colour combination for a summer urn
