In May 2015, I travelled to Schwetzingen, located in Germany’s Baden-Württemberg region, to explore a route dedicated to white asparagus. The Baden Asparagus Route is a 136-kilometre route that winds its way through cities and small towns that all celebrate white asparagus.
My trip involved taking part in an asparagus hike, meeting the asparagus queen, cycling the Spargel Route from Schwetzingen to Bruchsal and eating asparagus in at least two meals a day.
